Americans can now apply for Student Loan Forgiveness (debt relief), this program is aimed at lowering the debt burdens on students and families by Biden-Harris Administration

Americans seeking debt relief, Student Loan Forgiveness can now smile as the Biden-Harris Administration has launched an application website to accept massive application  

Requirements for Application for Student Loan Forgiveness

Before applying for debt relief, you will need to:

Fill out the online form to be eligible

Applicants will fill out the form with their information such as name, SSN, DOB, phone, and email address

Who is Eligible for the Student Loan Forgiveness?

All federally-held student loans are acceptable.

Direct Loans taken out by undergraduates are the only federal loans guaranteed by the federal government

Loans taken out by graduate students and their parents may be guaranteed as well, provided the borrower meets certain income requirements.

Unless the borrower applied to consolidate their federally guaranteed but privately held loans into Direct loans by September 29, 2018,

The program is currently unavailable to borrowers who took out loans under the Federal Family Education Loan program or the Federal Perkins Loan program.

Benefits of the Student Loan Forgiveness

A maximum of $10,000 in federal student loan debt may be forgiven for those who made less than $125,000 in 2020 or 2021, or less than $250,000 as a married couple or head of household.

A person’s adjusted gross income is used to determine eligibility for certain benefits.

“To help those with annual incomes of less than $125,000, President Joe Biden announced that, the federal government would forgive up to $10,000 in student loan debt for those who qualified for the federal Pell Grant program.

“Applicants who submit their information during the beta phase will receive a confirmation email, but their debt relief applications will not be processed until the site officially launches at a date that has not yet been announced but is expected to occur before the end of October. Once the paperwork is submitted, most qualified borrowers can expect debt relief within a matter of weeks”.

How to Apply for Student Loan Forgiveness for Americans

The application website https://studentaid.gov/ will be officially launched to accept applications before October ends, applicants are to get themselves ready with all application requirements

Applicants who have previously signed up for updates on the student debt relief process will receive an email informing them about the beta website.
